RSL sends midfielder to Chivas"It was a little bit out of the blue," Talley said late Friday night. "As a player involved with a team, you get a feeling something is going on. I just had kind of gotten that feeling. That's the way it goes in the business. Every player in professional sports has to know it can happen."

News From RSL Communications:RSL ACQUIRES SECOND ROUND PICK IN FUTURE MLS SUPERDRAFT IN TRADE WITH CHIVAS USARSL to Receive Conditional 2010 or 2011 SuperDraft Selection in Return for Veteran MF Carey Talley
SALT LAKE CITY (Friday, May 9, 2008) – Real Salt Lake today announced a trade with Chivas USA, with RSL sending MF
Carey Talley to the Southern California club in exchange for a conditional second round selection in either the 2010 or 2011 MLS SuperDraft.
“We would like to sincerely thank Carey Talley for his three years of service to Real Salt Lake,” said
RSL General Manager Garth Lagerwey. “We are fortunate to have had Carey provide tremendous veteran leadership to some very young teams during his tenure with RSL and wish him all the best with Chivas USA. Real Salt Lake would like to recognize Carey for his efforts on behalf of the organization throughout the Salt Lake community, as he served as a great ambassador for the club and the sport of soccer on many fronts over the last three seasons.”
The 31-year-old Talley was the elder statesman of Real Salt Lake this season, his third with the squad and 11th in Major League Soccer including stints with D.C. United (1998-01), Kansas City Wizards (2002-03), and FC Dallas (2004-05) before being acquired by RSL in a trade on Nov. 18, 2005. Talley ends his RSL tenure in third place on the team’s career charts with 60 games played; 58 games started; 5,120 minutes played; and nine assists; while also placing seventh with six goals.
During his MLS career, Talley has recorded 18 goals and 25 assists in 256 regular season affairs, the latter number ranking 18th in League annals. Talley was a part of a D.C. United squad that captured three championships during his early days in the League, with the University of North Carolina product earning rings for the club’s 1998 CONCACAF Champions Cup, 1998 InterAmerican Cup, and 1999 MLS Cup titles.
